Some of these I already work on, but some of these are new ideas for me to incorporate. This gal is just delightful.
First up, general conditioning on lyra:
Next, conditioning for straddle:

Silks Straddle Conditioning
by
Q
Since I'm allowed to work with the silks during lyra practice time for straddle and ball, I think I might incorporate some of these into my practice. The straddle on silks is much like profile straddle on lyra.

Cameo
by
Q
Cameo! This was last Thursday, I'm in the back on lyra while this person is on trapeze. I love a little stealth cameo that I wasn't expecting. And yes, I'm totally stalking this girl. I know her. I don't think she knows me. Weird? yea, probably. But she's the one with the public insta.

Almost
by
Q
Another quick update on my private lyra lesson today. I ALMOST got ball to the top. I had to swing a bit, but I totally caught my foot with my ass in the air. I need to get some video of my bad attempts so I'll have a reference point for when I do get it.
We also worked on bent arrow to the top. My back got super bendy. Maybe that horrible bendy video I've been doing is paying off.
She also wants me to work on getting into single hip hang without holding onto the hoop. We tried this. I grab one leg in front of me and lift the other leg out. But my free hand stays free. It's super scary. But I can work on this with the low hoop until I feel more comfortable.
I had also sent her two new pose requests...

And then inverted prow, on a single foot. It's pretty. (again, this is not me) |

Bloom V
by
Q
How did I never hear about Bloom? I've been to burlesque shows. I've been to irreverent LGBT OneVoice shows. I was in roller derby for years. Lots of alternative folk. My people. But I never heard of Bloom, and this was its fifth year.
My dream is to one day perform in Bloom. As I often say lately, maybe next year. I'm not trying to diss my skills. But it takes a lot of skill to perform. Hoop. Lyra. And the mental game. I'm not ready today. But maybe next year...
There were three shows. Friday, adults only. Saturday afternoon family friendly (barf). And Saturday night, adults only. I went to the Saturday night show, obvs.
This means, I missed Satya's performance on Friday. She's my amazing teacher. I was bummed to miss it. But behold, a video. awww yisss.
I was also pleased to stumble across this video from the Saturday family friendly show. I want to get to know this woman. Is that creepy? I don't know her at all. But any woman that's not your "typical aerial size" is inspiration for me. I don't mean to insult her. I think she's lovely, both in appearance and in skill. But being a similar shape and size to her gives me hope for my future skills.
Here is my practice buddy at last year's. I've seen her post this year's performance, but it's not a linkable link. Bummer.
I know two others who performed. One on Friday night, which I would love to find. And another Lyra performance from Saturday, which I would love to watch again. When I find them, I'll post them.

Inspired
by
Q
LOOK at this woman! So inspiring. I'm inspired. If she can do this at 59, surely I can do lyra at 190lbs. Right?
It's just gonna take awhile. A LONG while. ugh. I'm gonna need to figure out how to remind myself there's hope when I get down again. I will get down again. I need a plan in place.

Lyra Crush
by
Q
This woman is fabulous. Here's an interview.
I love this routine and her spunk. And her booty.
I also found a bit of her practice time. She could apparently already do a straddle. I wish I knew more of her physical background, how long it took her to invert.
(obsess much, Q? why yes, I do, thankyouverymuch)
This one is lovely, too...
And I found her blog. Some good stuff. Good reads. Added to my hoop blogs.
